Kenneth A. Penrod

Kenneth A. Penrod of Springfield, Ohio went to meet the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 2021. Kenneth was born on January 24, 1939 in Buffalo, Iowa and was the twelfth child to Albert and Carrie (Burris) Penrod. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Carrie (Burris) Penrod. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Freddie, and Raymond, along with six sisters, Beatrice, Viola, Mary, Rosetta, Bernice, and Lucille. Mr. Penrod was in the Army from 1961-1967 and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He then married his sweetheart Barbara (Guinn) Penrod on May 8, 1964, and they just celebrated 57 years together. Besides having the love of his life, he also loved his family and friends. He loved anything to do with patriotism for his country, eagles, nature, and most of all he loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. Kenneth was employed through IH Farmall in Rock Island, Illinois for 25 years and retired after 10 more years at IH Navistar, Springfield, OH, for a combination of 35 years. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Guinn) Penrod; two sisters, Genny Jones and Eloise (Lee) Carney, both of Davenport, Iowa. Kenneth and Barbara were foster parents of 18-plus years to many children who needed a loving home. They also had four children, John Bartleson, Steven Penrod, Debbie Springer, and Jodi Penrod. Kenneth had nine grandchildren, Victoria, Jennifer, Sean, Kenny, Justin, Carrie, Madisyn, Paiytyn, and Shawn. He also had five great grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor, Zoey, Robert, and Waylon. He also had numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who love him. He will be missed by all. There will be a celebration of Kenneth’s life for family and friends to gather on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Riversong Church, Springfield, Ohio from 2pm-5pm.
