Ellen Melinda (Miranda) Colon

Ellen Melinda (Miranda) Colon passed away May 7, 2022, at Indian Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Ellen was born June 28, 1955, to the late Milton Leroy Miranda and Mary Elizabeth (Johnny) Kerns in Bellefontaine, Ohio. On May 1, 1998, Ellen married the love of her life Joseph Colon who preceded her in death on November 3, 2020. Ellen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law April Joy and Michael Jefferson of Anderson, CA. Ellen is also survived by several people that she considered family, Brenna Gross, Jaden Vanover and Randy and Teresa Arnett. Siblings include, Merri Rish, Mark (Kathy) Kerns, Deidra (Warren) Hodge, Ryan (Annette) Kerns, Jill Kerns and Jerrod Kerns. Ellen loved cooking, fishing, gardening, music and most of all loved to be around people. She worked for Wal-Mart both in Bellefontaine and Urbana for 16 years. During her time there she made a lot of cherished friends. Ellen had a way of making people feel loved and she did it with a open heart. She will be missed by many. At Ellen’s request, there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Mangos Haven Rescue & Sanctuary, 701 W. Auburn Ave., Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
