Derrick Junior Dunn

     Derrick Junior Dunn, age 55, of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with loved ones on Thursday, May 12, 2022. He was born in Rome, New York to the late JoAnn Fox and Donald Brooks. He grew up on Podunk Rd. in Lee Center, New York with his 3 younger brothers. He graduated from Adirondack Central High School in 1986. When Derrick graduated, he moved to Ohio in 1988 to be close to his father. In 1989 Derrick met his wife, Tammy. They married in 1991 and were married for 14 years and had 4 beautiful children. In 1993 Derrick lost his eleven-month-old son, Shawn, that took a big piece of his soul. In the early 2000’s, Derrick had 3 more beautiful children with Amber. In 2013 he met his loving girlfriend, Marcy, and she was by his side until the end.

     Survivors include his children: Joshua Folden, Darick Dunn, Shawnta’ Dunn, Case Dunn, Nicholas Dunn, Ali Yeager; brothers: Lee Brooks of Germany, Timothy Brooks and his wife Rebecca of New York and Shon Brooks of Germany; grandchildren Aurora Folden, Cecelia Dunn, and Kyan Murphy; all residing in Ohio; his girlfriend Marcy Salyers, his ex-wife Tammy Dunn, and his step-father Arnold Fox, and numerous nieces and nephews. Derrick also had an entire host of relatives in Arizona and Ohio and friends that he loved. Derrick was predeceased by his parents, JoAnn Fox and Donald Brooks, his beloved son, Shawn C. Dunn, and his niece, Alicia Brooks.

     Derrick loved the Dallas Cowboys; he was always in front of the TV cheering them on. Derrick was a jokester he could always lift you up with his infectious humor. Laughter was Derrick’s superpower. Derrick had a huge sweet-tooth; his brother Shon told a story of Derrick as a toddler climbing up on the counter to sneak the hidden cookies on top of the refrigerator. Nothing was stopping Derrick from getting his sugar fix. Derrick also loved working on cars, working out, traveling, fishing, camping, dancing, music and talking about the bible with his friends.

     A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 pm Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
