Rev. David Holbrook, 85, of Springfield, went home to be with his Lord on May 4, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 27, 1940 in Paintsville, Kentucky, the son of Cam and Golda (Sparks) Holbrook.
Rev. Holbrook served as the pastor at the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God for 45 years. He was also employed as a sheet metal worker at Roth Brothers. He was a jokester who loved to make people laugh. His greatest joys in life were preaching the Lord’s word, spoiling his wife, Barbara, and hauling his grandkids around.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Johnson and Marie Turner; seven grandchildren, Thad (Sara) Williams, Steven (Jennifer) Williams, Michelle (Cory) Swindler, Nicholas (Natasha) Turner, Brookelyn Kendall, Ashley Penwell (Mike Skellenger), and Sarah Johnson; son-in-law, Steve (Mendy) Williams;18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Holbrook on April 6, 2024; daughters, Kim Williams and Brenda McIntosh; brother, Darrell Holbrook; sisters, Hazel Hayslip and Maxine Sibole; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with David’s grandson, Steven Williams, officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Parl. Condolences may be shared online at www.jkzfh.com.
