William Eugene Vermillion

William Eugene Vermillion, 84, of Springfield, passed away November 14, 2018. He was born March 31, 1934 in Springfield, the son of George Robert and Pearl Elizabeth (Lohnes) Vermillion. Mr. Vermillion was a member of the North Hampton Community Church, the Moose, the Union Club and the Eagles. He was an avid sports fan and truly enjoyed Nascar. Bill was retired from Navistar following 50 years of service and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Survivors include his loving wife; Cheryl (Hayes) Vermillion, two children; Kelly Rose and Shawn (Jamie) Vermillion, Springfield, two step children; William Conley Jr, Springfield and Shawn Conley, Urbana, grandchildren; Kristy Harris, Chad Leffel, Sydney Rose, Kyle Rose, William Conley III and Rebecca Conley, great grandchildren; Darian Schetter and Matthew Harris, one brother; Richard Vermillion, Urbana and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by children; Jean Thompson, Brenda Leffel, Patty Vermillion and William Vermillion Jr. siblings; Parry Householder and Robert Vermillion and his parents. Memorial services will be held at 11:30AM Wednesday in the North Hampton Community Church with Pastor Jim Welch officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services.
