Kami Lawson Obituary

Kami Nicole Dunn Lawson, age 46, entered the arms of Jesus on April 29, 2019 from complications of diabetes.

She was born May 12,1972 in Dayton, Ohio to Kerry & Dolly (Davis) Dunn and was raised in Saint Paris, Ohio, doing things that only people from Western Champaign county can relate to. She spent countless days at Mitchell Field and the soccer fields. She attended Graham local schools all 12 grades with the class of 1991 where she developed life-long friendships & was member of the Dancin’ Band from Falconland.

Kami grew up in a very large spirit-filled family. In addition to her siblings, Timothy Dunn Combs, Tonya Dunn Bair & Kerry Dunn, she had over 21 foster siblings, many aunts, uncles, cousins & grandparents,2 nephews & 4 nieces. As a result, Kami thrived in large groups and always enjoyed gatherings of family.

Kami was a great friend, loyal & fun. She never held a grudge against anyone. Once Kami became your friend, you became family…. & family is forever. She is remembered by her friends as someone who was selfless in showing love. Kami possessed the gifts of empathy, compassion, and understanding, allowing her to see only the good in everyone. She never needed to forgive anyone who wronged her...she just loved them more.

We always knew when Kami was nearby….She was like a firework, inconspicuously climbing in excitement till she burst into her loud colorful show of her boisterous laugh and infectious smile. Her energy and childlike silliness could get the party started or take the atmosphere to a new level. She enjoyed being playful and cutting loose.

She was real, down to earth and approachable. Kami didn’t need fancy things to be happy, she just needed her family.

She cherished her time as a mom to her children Kodey (Amber) Lawson, Kasey Lawson, & Kristian Lawson, as well as to the foster children and community children she served when coaching, babysitting, or driving school bus. She was happiest when her house was chaotic, loud and overflowing with energy of young people.

Kami’s greatest gift came from her role as Nana. Her “babies”: Skyler, Autumn, & Kayden stole her heart and she experienced a joy that fueled her. She delighted in the time she was with them daily and craved time with them when they were apart.

Kami’s love for people was deep and unwavering. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and close friend, Timothy Shepherd

God knew Kami needed family and he sweetened Heaven for her by having all her grandparents, some cousins, dear friends, and her brother waiting to welcome her home.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday May 3, 2019 at the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Friends may visit between 10am-12pm with service at noon officiated by Pastor Wally Mason. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Saint Paris, Ohio. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.
